UX/UI DESIGN, SAAS & APP DESIGN, ONGOINGPayZlip is a user-friendly tool that simplifies everyday life for business owners, employees, and accountants. Users get time reporting, payroll administration, real-time analysis, and On Demand Pay in the same tool.
My job was to make both the Payroll and Time Reporting experience as intuitive and simple as possible for the users.
Payroll administration challenges
This can be a complex process that involves a lot of data and calculations. I needed to find ways to simplify the user interface and make it easy for the users to understand, even for those who are not familiar with the industry jargon.
To minimize the cognitive load for business owners and accountants I broke down the tasks into smaller steps to make them more manageable.
To keep the interface as intuitive and simple as possible, I worked with color, typography, and white space to make the user’s tasks easier to follow. I always design with a focus on accessibility.
I used consistent design patterns throughout the process to make it easier for users to understand and navigate. I minimized the number of pop-ups/modals and kept the information in-line.
Time Reporting challenges
Time reporting can be a repetitive task, which can make users disengage from the app over time. I needed to find ways to make the app engaging and motivate users to continue using it consistently.
I solved that by showing clear infographics and visuals on how the employee’s upcoming salary is affected by various deviations. Also showing how many vacation days they have left.
I designed intuitive navigation to help users move through the application with ease. The main navigation is a tab menu with 3 (to 4) easy-to-understand icons. I added the main CTA (in orange) “Add time” at the bottom of the screen to make it super easy for the employees to report time.
I optimize the design for the small screen and touch-based interaction with large, clear buttons and easy-to-read fonts.
